Crystal Maggelet
Crystal Maggelet attended Utah State University for two years and later transferred to Pepperdine University where she graduated after earning a business degree. She first worked for Flying J as a buyer and seller of liquid petroleum gas. She then earned her master's degree in business at Harvard and went to work for a small creditýcard company in Connecticut, serving as national salesperson for the company.
Jay Call, her father, suggested she partner with him to build the first Crystal Inn in Salt Lake City. While he supplied financial support, the job of getting the new hotel built, staffed and running was left to Crystal. There was a great demand for rooms in 1994; and when the hotel opened, every room was booked. The new property was a success.
A few months later she and her husband, Charles "Chuck" Maggelet, founded MacCall Management, a hotel development, ownership and management company. The company has been successful pioneering such amenities as hot breakfast and high-speed internet access before those were more commonly offered. Those who stay at Crystal Inns discover large rooms that feature a refrigerator and a microwave. MacCall now owns and operates 14 properties and 11 of them are Crystal Inns.
Crystal and Chuck are managing directors for MacCall Management. Crystal also serves on the board of Flying J, a privately-held family corporation, founded by her father, Jay Call.
She founded the Call Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that is committed to assisting college students and helping families facing domestic abuse and other such challenges.
While the Maggelets have worked hard to make their company a success, their first priority has always been the raising of their four children. They have a 13-year-old son, Drew, a 10-year-old daughter, Lexi, and two-eight-year-old twins, Erica and Hailey.
Crystal and Chuck fund the National Advisory Board Scholarship in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business and Crystal is a member of the school's National Advisory Board.
