Personal Financial Planning Minor

Utah State University's Personal Financial Planning Program is registered with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards.  Students who complete the following requried courses will be allowed to sit for the comprehensive CFP Examination.  Students seeking a minor in Personal Financial Planning must be approved by the School of Accountancy and achieve at least a 2.5 grade point average in the required courses.  The required courses consist of 15 semester credit hours as follows:

     ACCT 3410      Income Tax I

     PFP 5060         Personal Financial Planning and Advising

     PFP 5070         Retirement Planning

     PFP 5080         Estate Planning 

     PFP 3460         Fundamentals of Personal Investing OR
     FIN 4460          Investments

Prerequisites

Acct 3410   Program Admission, 40 cr., 2.67 GPA
PFP 5060   Program Admission, 40 cr., 2.67 GPA
PFP 5070   Program Admission, 40 cr., 2.67 GPA
PFP 5080   Program Admission, 40 cr., 2.67 GPA
FIN 4460    Program Admission, 40 cr., 2.67 GPA, B- or better in BA 3400 (Math 1050, Acct 2010, Stat course)
