Biography

Randall (Randy) L. Hales is the CEO of Mity Enterprises, a furniture-systems manufacturer with worldwide sales and operations. He joined the company in 2007 and manages the privately-held venture that employs more than 250 employees from the company’s headquarters in Orem, Utah. Employing a renewed spirit of innovation at the 22-year-old company, Mr. Hales has established a high-performing management team focused on functional excellence, and is credited with transforming the company’s abilities in product development and distribution, as well as implementing aggressive operational improvement. He is also serving as the CEO of Broda Inc., a medical products company with 65 employees based in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Additionally, he is currently serving on several boards for both public and private companies.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hales has successfully held senior-level positions in operations, manufacturing, sales, marketing and general management. Among these, he served as the CEO and president of Back to Basics Products, Inc., where he was instrumental in helping the progressive kitchenwares company manage rapid growth while maintaining outstanding customer service. Under his leadership, Back to Basics was selected by Ernst & Young as an “Entrepreneur of the Year” recipient (June 2004) and held Inc. 500 recognition in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The company was sold to Focus Products Group LLC in 2007.

Earlier in his career, he filled key strategic positions at Dal-Tile International in Dallas, TX, and David Weekely Homes in Houston, TX. His assignments at Dal-Tile included marketing and product management as well as taking an active role in strategic acquisitions and joint-ventures. As the director of operations for David Weekley Homes he worked as a member of the IPO team for a planned public offering for the home building giant.

Mr. Hales received his bachelor’s degree from the school of engineering at Brigham Young University.
