Biography

Recognized as one of Time Magazine’s "25 Most Influential Americans," Stephen R. Covey is an internationally-recognized leadership expert, a best-selling author and teacher. His work The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was named the "#1 Most Influential Business Book of the Twentieth Century," and has sold more than 20 million copies in 38 languages. Other bestsellers authored by Dr. Covey include First Things First, Principle-Centered Leadership and The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness.

His organizational legacy to the world is Covey Leadership Center. On May 30, 1997, a merger of Covey Leadership Center with Franklin Quest created FranklinCovey. Dr. Covey is co-founder and vice chairman of FranklinCovey, the leading global professional services firm with offices in 123 countries. FranklinCovey shares Dr. Covey’s vision, discipline and passion to inspire, lift and provide tools for change and growth of individuals and organizations throughout the world.

Dr. Covey earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of Utah, an MBA from Harvard University, and a doctorate degree from Brigham Young University. He is also the recipient of eight honorary doctorate degrees, including one from Utah State University. He has made teaching principle-centered living and principle-centered leadership his life’s work. Dr. Covey’s vision to inspire individuals will continue to benefit students, the community, the state of Utah and the world through the strategic alliance between Dr. Covey and the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.

Dr, Covey and his wife, Sandra, are the parents of nine children. They have 51 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
