In 1970, Dr. Clifford Skousen earned a B.S. degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He then went on to receive a MBA from Pepperdine University in 1974, and a Ph.D. in business administration from Golden Gate University in 1979.
Dr. Skousen joined the Utah State University faculty in 1978. From 1990 to 2002 he served as head of the School of Accountancy and was appointed Senior Associate Dean of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business in 2002. Dr. Skousen is Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting at Utah State University.
Previously he taught on the faculties of Brigham Young University-Hawaii Campus and California State University, Hayward. He also held a visiting position at the University of Warwick, England, in 1988, and for three years he was a staff auditor and tax specialist with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Dr. Skousen served as a member of the AACSB Accounting Accreditation Committee and has served on several AACSB peer review teams for Business Schools and Accounting Programs accreditation. Recently, his professional service includes membership of the Utah Association of CPAs Education Foundation Committee, chair of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy Accreditation Assistance Committee, Vice President for Accreditation for the Accounting Programs Leadership Group, and Vice President for the Accounting Programs Leadership Group Western Region of the American Accounting Association. In addition, Dr. Skousen served as National President of Beta Alpha Psi.
Dr. Skousen has received awards for his research from the Managerial Auditing Journal, the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing, the National Decision Science Institute, and the Western Region of the Decision Science Institute.
