Richard L. Jenson joined the USU accounting faculty in 1987. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Prior to his doctoral program, he spent six years with the public accounting firm Wiggins & Company and one year with Intermountain Health Care. He is a certified public accountant (Utah) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants, the American Accounting Association, and the Decision Sciences Institute. He is a former president of the Western Decision Sciences Institute and has served as associate program chair for the Decision Sciences Institute. Dr. Jenson teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes in the area of accounting information systems. His information systems consulting focuses on conference management systems. He presently is member of the editorial board of the Journal of Business and Management. Dr. Jenson received the Western Decision Sciences Institute Distinguished Service Award in 2004. In 2002 he was named the ATK Thiokol Professor, inducted into the Utah State University Old Main Society, and appointed as head of the School of Accountancy. He received the Decision Sciences Institute Special Service Award in 2000. In 1997, Dr. Jenson was awarded the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing Research.
